hello. This Butler family is the very one to which I am connected. I would like to learn more if possible.
I will be glad to share what I can about these Butler's. If you wish to know more about a particular Butler, send me an email at prbutler96yahoo.com
Hi Mr Butler - Jean Butler Lorenz here. Researching a Benjamin Butler in my line. Was wondering if anyone in your line had done DNA so we could compare our
genes. It would be great to hear from you naej6@hotmail.com
Willis William Butler (29 on your list) is buried, or at least has a head stone immediately next to my property in Simpsonville, SC. My son and I did a rubbing of the headstone this morning and found initials W.W.Butler, born August 2, 1818, Died April 27, 1882. The epitaph become hard to read after "A friend to his... and a..." We did the rubbing with crayon, but I'd like to go back and do it with chalk or charcoal. There are 3 other sizable headstones in this section and many which appear to be children or slave stones. I'll be happy to give further info @ kraglin1@gmail.com
Does anyone have verification on Benjamin Butler Sr's parents? I found two different possible lines via Ancestry.com:
1. Walter Butler, 1685-1772, wife Mary Mason
2. General William Butler, 1701-1748, wife also listed as Mary Mason
(I come from Mamie Butler - Robert John Butler - William Thomas Butler - John Davis Butler - Benjamin Butler Jr. - Benjamin Butler Sr., all from Virginia, Georgia, and TN.)
Just an FYI....I am a neighbor of above commenter and wanted to let people know that this plot of land, the one with the headstones of the butlers on it, is all of a sudden for sale. I'm going to look more into it as it's in our neighborhood but how can you sell a property that is a known cemetery?
I'm traveling today but a neighbor said they've cleared the land this afternoon. The wife and kids are going to check on the headstones when they get home, assuming there is light enough to do so.
what has happened to these graves? gordon james butler is related to these persons
They are still there. Just buried by growth. They just built a new house on this property, but left the back corner with the graves untouched.
wish we could see them and the other three stones.. willis is mentioned in the geneology
what a shame these burials are lost all over sc. i am researching the butlers from edgefield and newberry
I too am a descendant of Benjamin Butler, through Moses Butler. Looking to learn more.

With a little effort, they could be recovered. Just buried by debris currently.
